A new 10! The infamous Egyptian Queen Cleo can rage my wet palate any night of the week! My God is this place Raging! Tuesday night and slammed. We were the lucky ones to steal a seat at the bar. The entrance is vibrant, engaging, energetic, and down right glamorous. Swarmed by dark reds, golds, massive paintings, and modern Egyptian vibes, your mind will immediately switch gears when you enter Cleo. Long gone are your thoughts about your cubicle, the audition you slipped up on, or the homeless man you saw peeing in a trashcan on Melrose (Yes that happened), because at Cleo you are #Winning. This place will put you in the zone and make you feel like a king. Tapas all around, lets get started on the food.

Small, mouth watering Mediterranean plates at decent prices and a bomb apple strudel? I’m there! We started with the Humus, a couple of kebabs, and their bitchin brussel sprouts that will put a bang in your BOCA! The humus was served with bread fresh out da oven that comes in a pretty cool little paper bag. Hey it made ME feel special! The chicken kebab was down right juicy with a flavoring that gave me the chills. And are you kidding me with the brussel sprouts? Tossed with some nuts and who knows what other goodies this was one of the most unique flavored salad-like dishes I have had in a while and it was done to absolute perfection.

Lets move on! Chopped Armenian style salad, a Roman Flat Bread, tuna tartar, mushrooms, and oh sweet Jesus the Lebaneh with feta dip. This dip was so off the charts I just about fell out of my seat onto the Cleos floor where I would have remained and eaten the crumbs of fellow food goers  had I broken my legs. Just give me more! The Lebaneh Feta dip is a creamy, cheesy, lemony dip that melts in your mouth with a raging texture. The chopped salad is also retarded good …fresh tomatoes, cucumber, parsley, radish, and a lemon dressing served chilled. All of these killer dishes will run you between 6 and 15 bucks so bring some friends and chow down but don’t forget to make a reservation at least a week in advance.

What wont save your wallet a few bucks are the cocktails but they are mighty good and to be quite honest, Cleo is a great place to get your Hwood buzz on. The Mediterranean Margarita is especially raging. Made with fresh almond syrup made daily, lime juice, and tequila …yum. $14.. but you wont care at that point, Cleo will have already sucked you in.

  1. It still boggles my mind that sbe managed to make Cleo’s this good. There ain’t no super star chef ala Jose Andres, there ain’t no BS fusion shit ala Katsuya. This is just solid, good Medi-cuisine. So surprised.
