I told you we were coming for you! All the talk, all the hype, and at this point…all the glory. Good work Umami burger, you lived up to the expectations. Your juicy burgers that come in a variety of flavors on a toasty glazed bun, are perfected to their descriptions on the menu. So how many Umami burgers did we have after finishing our delicious plate of assorted pickles? Four! and they went down in less than 10 minutes. Here were our picks. Starting with our favorites. The Hatch, The SoCal, The Manly, The green Turkey burger.

Wow Factor: The Hatch

The Hatch hit the taste buds with a jalepeno like flavor. Four different types of chilies accompany this burger with some house made melted American cheese. Raging! On to the So Cal. Lettuce, tomato, american cheese, carmelized onions, &  house spread. Killer! (we also love the name!). I would compare it to an In-N-Out burger because the ingredients are similar but that’s just illegal. If you are from SoCal you know what I’m talking about. In-N-Out is on its own, different from the rest, thin patties, etc. Now, the Manly burger. Cheddar cheese, salty onion strings, bacon mixed in somewhere, super tasty! And finally, the Green Turkey burger came with sprouts and some sort of avocado spread, over all it was good but more of a healthy tasting lunch time burger.

Besides the great burgers, the server at Umami was excellent and good service always makes for a better experience. The beer’s on draft were excellent as well.  We weren’t particularly stoked on the ambiance and location but we also did not go to the original which I believe is on La Brea.  We went to the one that’s essentially attached to Fred Segal in Santa Monica. Overall, we were impressed and will definitely go back, Good work Umami Burger… I definitely don’t need to know the definition of Umami to know that your burgers are killer!
