Downtown LA
To start, we don’t usually write posts about restaurant chains but I thought I’d share my two cents on Panini Cafe since so many people think its amazing. I have been to 3 of the 6 Panini locations and they are all mediocre at best. In fact, thinking back on the price paid for the food…it sucks.
On this particular occasion, I went for a quick breakfast thinking that its pretty hard to screw up eggs. However, after it took the server 10 min to bring over water, I was pretty confident that things weren’t gonna go well. I didn’t want any of their lousy breakfast sandwiches on the menu that I’ve had in the past, so I made an attempt at making my own the way that I like them. The following conversation took place (next time ill use video).
Me “Can I get a breakfast sandwich with eggs over medium, ham, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato, on toasted sourdough bread please. ” Server, “you cant order it like that. You have to pick one of the existing sandwiches on the menu and change it around” Me “Ok. Fine. Can I get the croissant breakfast sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese instead, and on toasted sourdough” Server “Well, if you want sourdough bread you should order the ham lunch panini and add egg and cheese to it because otherwise it wont enter into the computer properly and if I tell the chefs they’ll be confused. I will also have to charge you $1 dollar for the slice of cheese and 2 dollars for the egg” Thoughts going through my head “Shoot me in the face. How is it confusing to cook an egg over medium and put it on some toasted bread with some ham? Even the ritards at Jack in the Wack can figure that out.”
Why do people rave about Panini Cafe?
So guess what. Surprise! My order came out wrong. The eggs on my sandwich were scrambled. So I sent it back since I was paying 2 bucks for that precious little egg. Even better, it came back the next time with the scrambled eggs and the egg over medium on one half and just an egg over medium on the other half. They forgot to take the scrambled eggs off one half. Haha Jesus. The bread was soggy and the sandwich couldn’t even stay together on its own just sitting on the plate. It was disgusting for a $14 breakfast sandwich. And the fruit bowl tasted like wet Styrofoam. I think next time I’ll take a drive down to Mcdonalds, get an egg McMuffin, and pick the fruit out of a Mcparfait. You suck Panini Cafe. Always have.
