Considering ourselves sandwich connoisseur’s would probably be an understatement. Giving any sandwich shop a 9 on the Taste Bud scale is a pretty big deal. However, Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica makes a damn good sandwich.

Bay Cities famous Godmother sandwich, which boasts fresh Genoa Salami, Mortadella Coppacola, Ham, Prosciutto, and Provolone is sure to ignite your taste buds especially if you get it with “the works”. Spicy or mild, “the works” may be the best of toppings you have ever had on an italian sandwich. “The works includes: Mayo, Mustard (Yellow, Honey or Dijon), Onions, Pickles, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Italian Dressing and Mild or Hot Pepper Salad.  Besides all that yuminess, the italian roll they offer makes the sandwich that much better. And we didn’t give Bay Cities a 9 just because of the Godmother. Every single one of their sandwiches is delicious and their meat portions are very generous. You may want to check out their daily sides as well which include everything from meatballs to pasta salads.

If you get to Bay Cities during peak hours be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes until you can place your order. When its your turn to order, be ready, the employees do not have much patience as they have hundreds more sandwiches to make after yours. Trust us, Bay Cities is so good it’s one of the few places we have no complaints about, except maybe that their parking lot is always full ; )
